Hygienist- Sam Hitchcock

Sam is one of our lovely and friendly hygienists who works at our Alresford and Botley branches.

Sam Hitchcock, Dental Hygienist

Sam started her Dental career as a Dental nurse, qualifying in 1991. During this time Sam worked in private and NHS sectors and finally took a position as a Maxillofacial Nurse at Queen Alexandra hospital Portsmouth.  Working between oral Surgery and Orthodontics gave Sam the chance to expand her knowledge in facial reconstruction, oncology and oral cancer. Sam’s interest in oral health grew and in 1997 she started training as a Dental Hygienist at Guys and St Thomas dental school London and gained a Diploma in Dental Hygiene.

Over the years Sam has worked in general practice and returned to QA as the departments Hygienist for a period. 

More recently, Sam has worked within the Domiciliary Dental sector, concentrating on Oral Health in Care homes. This gave her great insight on the importance of good oral health and how that links with overall general health. “It is so important to look after our teeth whilst we are fit and able to care for ourselves, especially as people are keeping their own teeth for longer”.

It’s great to have Sam back in General practice and working back with our team at Hartog Dental.

Sam lives in Southampton raising a very active 10year old son. Her interests are Travel,  Rugby, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
