Dentist Rebecca Hartog and I met through our mutual love of gardening.
My old usual, no teeth pose I would hide my face behind a scarf!
Following a bad diagnosis from another dentist I went to her professionally, worried and in pain. My problems were sorted, one extraction, not two as I had been advised, some root canal treatment and I was back in business.
We embarked on a regular plan and via regular hygienist appointments, check-ups etc my teeth and gums became more healthy. Unfortunately, I hated my crooked and misshapen teeth. I avoided revealing them by covering my mouth with my hands when laughing and I laugh a lot.
I invested in tooth whitening which was successful and I started to smile more in photos, but I still hated them really. Now in my early 60’s I was happy with my look, funky hair and glasses, stylish clothes but oh my smile, it just sapped away at my confidence!
So after lots of discussions where Becca explained everything that she could do I decided on some cosmetic treatment.
I didn’t want to wait for orthodontic treatment, it would have given me a wonderful result but also might have taken 18 months and quite frankly, life is too short! Becca worked out a plan for me. The treatment was utterly painless and transforming.
I am absolutely delighted with my new smile, I just love it. Friends just say I look really well, ie they haven’t noticed ‘I’ve had work’ and it’s given me such a wonderful sense of confidence. My husband says I look great and my kids and grandchildren are super complimentary too.
My new smile makes me happy every single day, my only regret is I didn’t do it sooner.
All I can say is if you aren’t happy with your smile don’t wait!
