At Hartog Dental our award winning team is fundamental to everything that we do. Our team approach means that we regularly draw on the diverse expertise and specialisms of each clinician to bring you and your family the very best care and attention possible.

Braces (orthodontic treatment) straighten or move teeth to improve the appearance and function of teeth. Braces can be removable, so you can take them out and clean them, or fixed to your teeth.

Braces can be made of metal, plastic or ceramic. Invisible braces are made of a clear plastic, we use the Invisalign clear brace system.

“I would recommend Ross to anybody who is thinking about getting Orthodontic treatment like I did….He completely changed my teeth, resulting in something I thought I would never have – a nice smile and a straight bite”

– BG

Braces for Children / Teens

As your child grows and develops, their teeth may need orthodontic treatment for a lovely smile that builds confidence. We will help with the assessment of your child as their face and jaws grow, and dentition develops.

There is no set age for an orthodontic consultation, but usually, you will be referred at an appropriate stage by one of our dentists, or by your general dental practitioner.

You are always welcome to book an appointment to discuss your concerns.

Common issues addressed in childhood orthodontic care include:

  1. Overcrowded teeth
  2. Protruding teeth
  3. Gaps between teeth
  4. Insufficient space for emerging teeth
  5. Supernumerary teeth (extra teeth)
  6. Hypodontia (too few teeth)
  7. Premature tooth loss due to trauma
  8. Dental decay
  9. Malocclusion (improper biting relationships between teeth and jaws)

Braces for Adults

In certain cases, patients may have severe dental problems that require a collaborative treatment with orthodontics to prepare the teeth for bridges or dental implants.

We may use orthodontics to establish space for a missing tooth prior to a bridge or implant treatment, or to improve the arrangement of teeth after carrying out treatment for patients with advanced gum disease.

This is made all the more straightforward by the fact that we have specialists in all dental disciplines under one roof.

Though often thought of as a treatment for younger patients, orthodontics can actually be considered at any stage in your life. More than half of our patients are adults, and we routinely treat older patients, including those in their 60s and 70s.
