They say you’re as young as you feel, but wouldn’t it be nice to look in the mirror and see a face that reflects this too?
As we get older, nature can sometimes need a helping hand and that’s where non surgical facial treatments can work wonders. We’ve put together our most frequently asked questions. Please do contact us if you would like to discuss further.
What is Botox®?
Botulinum Toxin is a type of purified protein, produced by the Clostridium Botulinum bacterium. It has been used effectively and safely for over 25 years and is administered directly into facial muscles in tiny amounts during treatment.
How does Botox® work?
Botox® works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the facial muscles that have been injected. This makes the muscles less active and therefore softens and smoothes the appearance of persistent lines and wrinkles.
How many treatments would you need?
In most cases, patients can see the real difference after one treatment. This is because Botox® works gradually, smoothing and softening the lines and wrinkles for up to 4 months. Every face is unique of course and we’ll advise you on how many treatments you’re likely to need and how often, depending on the results you’d like to achieve.
How long does it take to see results?
It usually takes around 7-14 days to see the full effects of each treatment.
How long will the results last?
The effects often lasts for up to 4 months, depending on the patient.
How long does the treatment take?
Wrinkle softening is a straightforward procedure so you could even pop in on during your lunchbreak! Botox® is only administered into the areas it is needed.
Worried that you’ll end up with a ‘trout pout’?
Rest assured, following an extensive assessment, we aim to meet your expectations being mindful not to over contour the lips. In this way, we avoid over bulking out of this sensitive area.
Can you go back to work after the procedure?
With Botox® injections, at worst you’ll have a little redness which will subside after a few hours.
Botox® or dermal filler?
Botox® reduces the activity of the muscles that cause wrinkles such as crow’s feet and frown lines. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, are a range of products that fill depleted facial features. Most dermal fillers work in two ways. First, the majority of fillers plump and lift the skin gently, secondly, most fillers also stimulate the body to produce its own natural collagen; some help more than others. Many physicians choose to use the two products in conjunction with each other to achieve optimal results.
Which type of dermal filler do we use?
We use Restylane. It is the most popular temporary filler used in over 15 million treatments. It is formulated as a clear gel that contains HA (Hyaluronic acid) a substance found naturally in the body to provide hydration and structure. Fillers are brilliant for redefining lip contours or lip enhancements and ironing out deeper folds. Results are seen instantly. Please note that with dermal filler injections around the mouth or nose area, you may experience temporary mild bruising and swelling.
